Shaolin Jazz just recently held their monthly event “Can I Kick It?” At Songbyrd Music House again bringing hip-hop heads and Kung-Fu movie Buffs all together to watch high flying action over DJ 2-Tone Jones’ Live soundtrack. This month the movie of choice was “IP Man 2: Legend of the Grandmaster”. IP Man 2 is the follow-up sequel for 2008’s “IP Man”. Loosely based off of the life of Yip Man or better known simply as IP Man. He’s most credited for teaching the Wing Chun style to the likes of Bruce Lee, who studied under him and would eventually become a global figure for martial arts.
Despite the aftermath of blizzard storm Jonas and everyone still trying to dig themselves out of their homes to make it back to work the turnout was quite nice. As always the food and atmosphere at Songbyrd were on point. This time, I ordered the Cajun fried chicken skewers, I was not disappointed. I usually stick to what I know when it comes to eating at new places so for me personally this was a gamble and I’m glad that I went with this entrée. If you were unable to make it to this month’s screening no need to worry because next month Shaolin Jazz will be screening another Kung Fu classic at Songbyrd so stay tuned!
