“Everybody’s trying to see if Snoop Dogg’s son can really play football, or if he’s all hype…” And that’s the question Bishop Gorman High School’s wide receiver Cordell Broadus & ESPN are setting out to answer. The Doggfather passes the torch to his son, as “Snoop & Son: A Dad’s dream” segments Cordell’s journey as a top college prospect & his struggle to exceed expectations. He’s the #2 top Nevada recruit and #14 top recruit in his position, with offers from 15 schools, including Oregon, Baylor, Arizona State, UCLA, & USC. He’s definitely making noise, and in this five part documentary he’ll be making a commitment to a Division I school. Cordell is definitely a monster at the high school level, and at 6’2 & almost 200 pounds I don’t just mean that figuratively, but will he be able to prosper at college level? Will he be able to shake the term “Snoop Dogg’s son” from in front of his name? The documentary is already 2 parts in and leans toward “yes”.
While he’s attempting to step out of his father’s shadow, Snoop is still a big presence in Cordell’s football career, and we’ll see a very different side of the west coast rapper & gets some exclusive insight into his family life. The show not only follows Cordell’s road to the NCAA, but sheds light on the Broadus family dynamic, especially the concrete relationship Snoop & Cordell have. Snoop has coached Cordell, and even moved him from Diamond Bar High School to Bishop Gorman High School to challenge him & better prepare him for the collegiate level.
As I’ve mentioned above, the documentary has already premiered two out of five episodes, but you can catch them on youtube, & , and episode 3 will be on ESPN, Wednesdays at 7p until February 11th.
