It’s been a while since I’ve been speechless and excited about a project but man how the hell, do I begin to shed light on this gem that Eric G from the Jamla Records camp just put together. Werk by Eric G, has got to be one of the illest remix projects I’ve heard in a long time. Now usually, you hear old heads speak on how all of this new music is trash but the great Eric G just proved them all to be wrong. On this project, he takes some of the best trap, party, and street music and cross-pollinated it with ill remixes layered with old and new songs alike with soulful drops and vocals. This reminded me why it was so important to put together this list:
27 Super Soulful Hip-Hop Songs For Champions.
After hearing one track, I was hooked and it instantly made me want to support him and toss my $7 dollars at the big homie. More than anything the lyrics on this album are not all of the best and greatest but the way he flips all of these lyrics gives them all honorary privileges to be good. Literally, I’ve been able to enjoy listening to this project from beginning to end and over, and over, and over again. So you won’t be disappointed. Like on, amazin, the way he flips, Sex With Me byRihanna and 24 Hours To Live by Mase ,feat. Black Rob, The LOX, and DMX is just incredibly insane.
The production is second to none. Like really man, this guy got everyone out here beat but J Dilla himself. This project will have you rocking and bobbing your head like Questlove when he finds his groove while drumming. The way he flips the samples on the track, weed, which features D.R.A.M.’s track, Broccoli feat. Lil Yachty, is just amazing. It will literally make you want to cry because it just proves the soul of Dilla continues to live on through future musicians and producers in the field. So if you’re reading this Eric G, thanks for just loosing your mind and snapping on this track man we appreciate it more than you know.
Overall, this is a project for anyone who loves good music, soul samples, great production, and enjoy being bad and boujee from time to time. The track that pulled me into this project was definitely hearing, save, in a promotional, I caught onRapsody’s twitter page at 1:44am. The sample on this piece is just greatness in outerspace, considering he’s blending $ave That Money by Lil Dicky feat. Fetty Wap and Rich Homie Quan. Then when I heard him follow that up with, beetlz, which is a fusion of Black Beatles by Rae Srummerd and Me and Your Mama by Childish Gambino is push this project into my top five thus far in 2017. If you want to hear this greatness you can go over to Eric G’s bandcamp page and cop it for the sweet price of $7 by clicking here.
Go buy that shit man!
