Just yesterday he released the video for the second track on the album, “Energy.” In it, he impersonated many controversial public figures and showed us just why that little geeky kid from Degrassi has worked his way to the top without having to be anyone but himself. The introduction and ending of the video is more introspective than the humor that makes up the bulk of it, with a look at Drake as a child being bullied and still having to take care of those who treated him badly.
With “cameos” from Oprah, Mayweather, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, and even a Ken doll, Drake made the right move by teaming up with French directing duo Fleur & Manu, whose list of collaborators include Skrillex and Gesaffelstein (you have to see this video,Hate or Glory – it’s crazy and truthful at the same time).
You can check the video out on Apple Music via Drake’s artist page.
Not only did he release his video yesterday through Apple Music, OVOXO Radio will debut today on Beats 1 Radio.
But wait – there’s more.
Do you remember Majid Jordan? He partnered with Drizzy on “Hold On We’re Going Home” (although I don’t think I’m the only one who only heard Drake’s voice and Drake-like back up singing). He and Drake released “My Love” yesterday, as well. The production sounds like it’s going to be a club banger, but it definitely emits the essence of hot summer nights and shimmering lovers and friends enjoying their lives into the dawn. The content is reminiscent of Drake’s comfortable themes of the woes of relationships and the vulnerability of his heart – in all actuality, we will appreciate it as we appreciate all of Drake’s songs that sound the same, but harmonically different and therefore better than the last.
