Pulling into the tailgate lot before the big game between Howard University Bison and Morehouse College Tigers, you could hear the music bumping, smell the food grilling, and competitive chatter brewing. It was an ongoing day full of school spirit, festivities, and good food. Needless to say there was a ton of drink around for everyone in attendance as well. As the tailgate persist you could find a lot of fellow alumni connecting and reminiscing on good times while at HU or Morehouse / Spelman.
Also, in attendance you could find Angie Ange of WPGC 95.5 hosting on stage getting everyone rallied and excited for the game. She moved the crowd by playing throwback songs while encouraging the crowd to dance. Once the tailgate was over everyone that was interested in the game headed over to the RFK Stadium to check out the battle between the two schools. Surprisingly, you could find a lot of Spelman sisters out there supporting the Morehouse men and Howard students and graduates did not backdown from making their presence felt.
As the game went on Howard seemed to be dominating not only the game but the sounds as well. The Bisons scored many touchdowns giving the band and crowd plenty to be excited about. Once half-time hit the bands took to the field and gave their best performances. Morehouse came out playing a combination of Take Me To The King by Tamela Mann and There Goes My Baby by Charlie Wilson. This made it easy for the Howard band to show them up since they came out blazing the new hot song Fight Night by Migos and busting out the nene dance throughout their performance. Overall, The HBCU Classic was an awesome experience and full of HBCU pride. We definitely look forward to checking it out next year and covering it yet once again.
