I have to admit: It’s tough to find the words to write about losing a respected figure in the rap community. But, unfortunately, Hip-Hop was struck with the saddening news of the passing of Duck Down Records MC, Sean Price. It occurred a couple weeks ago, but the effect remains strong on the hearts of his family, close friends, and his supporters. Sean had good relationships with Hip-Hop’s fresh talent, and one in particular — Mac Miller — decided to pay homage to the Heltah Skeltah affiliate with an unreleased collaboration between them both. We would be wrong if we didn’t take the time to acknowledge a great track and a great wordsmith in some form or fashion. So, our Song of the Week belongs to Mac Miller and Sean Price.
I won’t dig too deep into the song as I usually do because I want you to just listen and vibe out, out of respect. The track is undoubtedly ill. Sean’s verse is immaculate; one of the best I’ve heard this year. With that said, enjoy this week’s selection for our Song of the Week. Rest in peace, Sean Price. You’ll always be appreciated for your contribution to this game we love called Hip-Hop.
