Upon entering the Shamrock Fest, I could easily tell that it was going to be a great day as I heard a group of guys cheering and gaining excitement the close they got to entering the RFK Stadium. Everyone was full of cheer and dressed in their favorite St. Patrick’s Day all green gear. You could find some folks dressed in complete shamrock suits, Norte Dame Fighting Irish gear, and all green Washington Capitals gear. As the day went on you could find tons of fun games to play including cornhole, beer pong, and even giant jinga. In the background of all of this fun you could hear music blazing some of the hottest Celtic, R&B, Rock, Pop, and Hip-Hop music.
Amongst the musicians making the event come to life you could find Albannach, Bastard Bearded Irishmen, Blues Travelers, Brad Piff, Carbon Leaf, Celtica, Chris Styles, Clinton Matthews, Dave Russell, DJ 2Nutz, DJ Antonio Ernesto, DJ Euneek, DJ Flow, DJ Geometrix, DJ Saam, Gaelic Mishaps, Gaelic Storm, Go Go Gadjet, Icewagon Flu, James Nasty, Kilmaine Saints, Pat Premier, Reel Big Fish, Rene, Scythian, Street Dogs, The Fighting Jamesons, The Gobshites, and Turtle Recall. Some of the performances that stood out to me the most were definitely Scythian as they were just simply awesome and rocking the crowd from beginning til end. The other group that seem to make the most noise at the event would have to be Go Go Gadjet which completely took me by surprise. Having not seen them perform before I felt like I’ve been missing out on good music considering they did several covers including DMX’s famous “Party Up (Up In Here)”, Big Pimpin by Jay Z feat. UGK, and several other rock covers.
Overall, everyone seemed to have had a great time. As the beer splash, the cigars puffed, and the music glared everyone was in a good mood throughout the day. I have to say Red Frog Events, LLC, really put their foot in this one as everyone on the premises knew exactly where to be and was friendly from the beginning all the way til the end of the day. The accommodations for the artist, media, and guest were all on point and it made the event a lot easier to enjoy.
Some of my favorite moments of the event consisted of having some dope conversations with those of the attendees of the events, discovering some new awesome music, having some awesome food, and definitely meeting Gumby. So I’ll definitely be looking forward to the next ShamrockFest and keep my eyes peeled for all of the future events Red Frog Event’s will be throwing in the near future.
If you did not manage to get an opportunity to enjoy the shows and events this year no worries just make sure your aware and around for next year’s festivities.
