This week one of the tracks in heavy rotation on my playlist right now is Say by the L.A. songwriter PJ which features a quick few bars from the lyrical Lupe Fiasco. On this track, PJ manages to find a way to express what most people around the world are saying to themselves each day as they awaken to take on the challenges of the real world. She’s speaking on waking up, going to a dreadful job, forgetting about your ex, but somehow finding a way to keep pressing forward. As she champions the right to express herself, she also connects to her audience through illustrating the emotional side of the typical day-to-day that most people ignore and won’t speak about.
With the recent release of her EP, Walking Around Pools she proves once again that she can put out quality music. Pushing forward, she continues to give us a few more cool songs to keep us in good spirits. I have to say the production on this track is actually quite impressive and instantly makes you feel what she’s expressing throughout the track, thanks to Key Wane.
Definitely make sure you’re on the lookout for PJ’s next project, Rare, as I’m sure there will be a lot of cool tracks on there as well. Also, be sure to follow PJ to keep up with her future releases and news. Soundcloud, Twitter, Instagram.
