It’s great to write about two amazing people that are out to change the landscape of basketball and just like each kid they coach, their paths are very different. Luckily, the two always find common ground when it comes to having passion to play the game of basketball. Meet Patrick Robinson, better known as Pat The Roc, known as one of the premiere ball-handlers in the game and is credited with coaching several of the top players in the world via his Pat The Roc Basketball Skills Academy. I’ve met and seen a lot of ballers – but he’s definitely one of the few that has a proven gift for the game and his handles are always on ice!
You can always find Pat in a gym where he’s constantly helping aspiring ballers young and old up their game and basketball IQ. The biggest thing that’s evident is that he cares about the game and how it’s played and it’s proven to yield some great results. So far he has coached some of the greatest players in the game including Skylar Diggins, Quinn Cook, Tyreke Evans, La’Keisha Sutton, Victor Oladipo, Nolan Smith, Mike Beasley and the list goes on. As of lately he just put on a basketball clinic featuring one of the “kids” he used to coach who is now a proven basketball all-star, Quinn Cook.
Quinn has had much success at the high school (DeMatha & Oak Hill) and collegiate (Duke University) level when it comes to the game of basketball. His demeanor quickly matches that of Pat’s as he’s laid back, focused, and on a mission to keep the game alive while also stressing the importance of education. He’s had a ton of success in college where he was an all-star point-guard on Coach K’s Blue Devils at Duke University, setting him up to have an opportunity to play in National Basketball Association.

Check out our exclusive interview with Pat The Roc and Quinn Cook as they share stories about how they first met, what they hope to do for the kids they coach, and how to be a well-rounded scholar-athlete. There are a ton of gems in this video and I hope that this will do two things:
1) Inspire kids that have a hunger for the game to feel motivated to keep pushing and master their education just as much as they master playing the game of basketball
2) Bring a lot of attention to Pat The Roc’s facility in Rockville (Building 16, 601 Dover Rd, Rockville, MD 20850) so this man can keep teaching kids the skills he’s gained over the years and pump out more all-star talent.
