Kaytranada’s success as a producer over the years has been quite interesting, but now it’s time to for him to hop into the spotlight. After shaking up the game with his phenomenal sample flips and providing the backdrops for some of your favorite songs, we’re now just weeks away from his debut album “99.9%“. It’s an exciting time for the Canadian producer as he took a step back from touring in 2015 to work on the album he’s been itching to create for a while now. And not long after his feature story with The FADER was released last week, Kaytranada proceeded with his album push and dropped a visual for what may be one of the best records from 99.9%, “Glowed Up” featuring Anderson .Paak. Kay produced “Lite Weight” for Anderson’s impressive sophomore release Malibu, and the Aftermath artist returned the favor by lending his vocals over Kaytranada’s bouncy and fun production.
The video, directed by Bo Mirosseni, is a five-minute trip through the mind of Kaytranada — a blend of fun and trippy. For one scene, you’ll see Kay getting a hair cut while holding a snake and another where he’s dabbing with a plate of PB&J sandwiches in the middle of a party. I don’t know about you, but I have to commend him on his ability to multitask. Most importantly, the aesthetics of the video are what make the entire production one of the best videos I’ve seen so far this year. Maybe you should check it out for yourself. I guarantee you’ll love it as well.
