Good music always resonates with me but when it’s really good it only makes the world feel better and that’s what this track does by Hodgy Beats. As a fellow Trenton, NJ native it feels good to hear great music being produced from the area with an emcee lacing a sick beat with ill rhymes. I’m all for showing love and supporting Poor Righteous Teachers as they were the first group to break the scene in Trenton with the classic hip-hop track, Rock Dis Funky Joint but this track brings a new sound that I can highly appreciate.
In this music video, you can find Hodgy Beats making great use of the urban landscape that Trenton provides while welcoming you into his world of constantly grinding. Initially, once the video starts it begins with a view of the Trenton Makes The World Takes bridge which pays homage to the steel workers that produced most of the steel that graces the Brooklyn Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge, and George Washington Bridge. Thankfully with Hunter Lyon behind the lense he makes sure to give you an intimate view of Hodgy Beats eating Chinese food downtown, chilling playing Grand Theft Auto on XBox One, and grabbing junk food from a local corner store.
Independent-minded but passive / And aggressive like a catalyst / I run the town like Ben Affleck —Hodgy Beats
One of the dopest thing about this music video is seeing him share his food with a homeless man that’s clearly hungry. This shows the pure heart of him as an artist and also showcases that he never forgets where he comes from. We will definitely be covering and following Hodgy Beats closer as he continues to put projects out. In the mean time be sure to buy his latest self-titled album “Hodgy Beats.” Be sure to follow Hodgy Beats court below as well. Def let me know what you think about his new album.
