On leap day Kilo Kish released her 20 track debut album “Reflections in Real Time” viaiTunes. This is her first musical project since her 2014 EP “Across” as well as her first project under her own label Kisha Soundscape + Audio. Being a fan of her’s since the debut EP “Homeschool” I was very excited when I saw the release of the album. Reflections in Real Time takes thinking out loud to a whole new level. Full of inner thoughts that most of us would be afraid to ask ourselves, Kish has the mirror right in front of her questioning everything that society has taught her from reality, finding meaning and purpose in life to questioning ones goals wondering if they’re “necessary, or do they just serve as a way to past the time in existence that began outside of her control”.
To go along with the release of the album, Kish also provides us with an visual for “Existential Crisis Hour” which paints a perfect picture to go along with those internal questions she seeks answers for while having breakfast, sort of. While talking to FADER, she breaks down the thought process behind her latest visual:
“The video for ‘Existential Crisis Hour’ is an idea I came up with that is meant to illustrate the bombardment of inner thoughts and questions that I have on a daily basis… A simple task like having breakfast turns into a shit show when you over think it.”
The little over 1 minute quirky video provides a nice balance to the retro sounding instrumental playing in the background as if you’re watching a Tide commercial from the 60s’. Also in the background it seems as if her good friend Childish Gambino lends a hand helping with extra ad-libs throughout. If you’ve never checked out any of her projects I suggest you do your homework champs, with 3 EP’s and the latest release of her debut album under her belt it’s pretty evident that she’s just getting started.
