If you haven’t read the infamous New York Times article that featured Will and Jada Smith’s two profound seeds to understand why these kids are more than just your average Hollywood babies, here is yet another reason to keep tabs on their artistic growth.
Jaden is branching out from the shadow of his father as one of the three founding members of MSFTSrep, an amalgamation of creativity, intelligence, youthful playfulness, and evolved musings that started as a clothing line that reflects the semblance of the unconventional symmetry their styles embody. But MSFTSrep is much more than that – these incredibly gifted creators seem to be in the beginning stages of establishing an audiovisual outlet for their eccentricity and others like them.
Jaden, whose discography includes the likes of Justin Beiber, Childish Gambino, and Jhene Aiko, has crept up on the music industry and isn’t showing any signs of slowing his momentum. He recently released This is the Album, a follow up to his earlier mixtapes, The Cool Tape Vol. 1 & 2 (all proving his lyrical prowess), which paved the way for audiences to sample the sounds of dylAn, Daniel D’artiste, and ¿Téo?.
Willow was apart of the recently released three tracks made to accompany This is the Album, solidifying her already apparent affiliation with MSFTSrep. From Whip My Hair to her most recent collaboration with SZA on “9,” she isn’t to be separated from the obvious talent that exudes from this group. Despite the fact that she’s still growing her voice – which is more than apparent – what she lacks in experience she provides in content, lacking shallowness in her mesmerizing lyrics that will serve to expand your knowledge base.
Daniel D’Artiste, who also produced Willow’s Interdimensional Tesseract, is the producer and creative director for the group. His younger brother, dylAn, has a voice that maintains a casual tone and isn’t ashamed of his relation to the MSFTSrep persona. His contrasted style and subject content is best heard in his feature with Young $enna, where he molds his flow to the vibe without losing his individual energy.
Moisés Arias, best known for playing Rico on Hannah Montana and other Disney Channel favorites, was one of the original members, key in starting the clothing sector of MSFTSrep. His little brother, ¿Téo?, who starred as Jerry in the Disney show Kickin’ It, is a vocal artist and producer who also plays the piano. AzZi, who has shied away from the limelight, is a producer who has roots in classical music but his present taste is quite diverse. After working with TELANA on Aether among other music projects, he joined forces with Jaden and Willow, who he’d met while in high school, and ultimately MSFTSrep.
After knowing who they are, it’s not surprising to view The Mystery School, their Tumblr page where they explore education from a different perspective by promoting out-of-the-box thinking and even dabbling in Orgone theories. Their clothing brand, which is very much like the abstract pieces that have brought Jaden much attention, is filled with symbolism that coerces the wearer and onlooker to search deeper into the vast expanse of metaphysical and alternative thinking dissimilar to many of their generational counterparts. From patterns of the flower of life and references to Fahrenheit 451, their brand promotes concepts that they seek to introduce to their audiences – one of opening the mind to surpass the mundane conventionalism that pervade their generation while still enjoying the fact that they’re young, free, and ready for the world.
Despite various personal projects, it can be assumed that these are some talented geniuses with skills and it would be a shame to miss out on anything they have to deliver.
