There’s not every day that you come across amazing bands that only include three members that are all dope on their own but together they make magic. This week we had the pleasure of checking out Madame Gandhi, an electro-feminist band out of Los Angeles, CA, which includes Kiran Gandhi, DJ Ayes Cold, and Alexia Riner with a sound that’ll crush the universe. This band shows a lot of promise as their single Wazey, that has been earning hella plays on SoundCloud at 8K+ plays so far. When you come out to see them perform you instantly notice their professionalism in getting started on time but then they flip you on your head when their wild and crazy beats start blazing out of the sound system masked with Kiran Gandhi’s drum skills.
Having gone through a week where I’ve just witness so many great performances including Travis Scott, Rihanna, Conrad Sewell, Andra Day, Boomscat, and more this one just made the week even better. Kicking the show off with an insane african drum piece was simply awesome considering I haven’t heard that song since I was a kid growing up in the hood chilling at the spot where they sell bean pies by the ounce. Once the crowd got their wake up call Madame Gandhi got into a few ill songs and even invited the crowd on stage to party with them. Now usually when artist do this people don’t dance at all but when they did it people were going ape shit and having a great time while doing it. At best the only way I can describe their performance is high energy and full of life. As the show wrapped up it was like a small part of me died because I didn’t want it to be over neither did the crowd.
In good news though, we managed to catch up with the lead singer of the band (Kiran Gandhi) and get her take on the origins of Madame Gandhi including the expectations for what to expect in the future from the feminist all girl band.
