I’m not sure about you, but my middle school heart fluttered today when I discovered JoJo is preparing to relaunch her music career. For the past decade, JoJo has been stuck in a legal bind with her music label. In short, she signed a contract back in 2004 with Blackground Records, and they delayed album production. Issue after issue arose, but the contract legally bound her to this record label. Anyways, she escaped! Which changes everything, and means new off the chain R&B power ballads are on their way.
On October 2nd, JoJo released three new singles on Spotify (you can also find them on YouTube), or a tringle as she cleverly nicknamed it. She’s also already released a music video for the tringle’s frontrunning hit, “When Love Hurts.” If anything her vocals have only grown in power and control since her teenage years. The new releases give us a more mature, self-confident, and determined artist. She’s still the same Boston girl we loved from “Leave (Get Out)” and “Too Little, Too Late,” but with a new sound, new image, and a new end goal for herself.
But wait, there’s more news: JoJo is heading out on tour to support the relaunch of her music career, and DC grabbed a spot on the tour list. She will be gracing the stage at U Street Music Hall on December 12th, and tickets go on sale October 8th at 10AM. Head toUStreetMusicHall.com for more details of the event. If you don’t grab tickets, I will grab all of them for you. Trust me, her voice will be even more magical live.
