Dear White People directed by the critically acclaimed award winning director Justin Simien will be coming to theaters next week October 17, 2014 to awaken America to the blatant disrespect racism we all experience everyday no matter what the race. To take on such a topic as racism and prejudice is a tough one in itself but I’m sure there will be some good to come from it or not? Straight from Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions production teams this film is bound to be one of the most high anticipated films to check out this fall. The film also features Tyler James Williams, Dennis Haysbert, Ashley Blaine Featherson, and a cameo appearance from Issa Rae.
I’m most definitely sure the Stereo team will go to check it out and a review will follow shortly after. More than anything we are looking forward to seeing just how authentic this film will be and judging from the trailer it seems to be pretty accurate thus far. When a student is being questioned about why she wrote a paper about The Gremlins is about suburban white fear of black culture she answers, “The Gremlins are loud, talking slang, addicted to fried chicken and freak out when they get their hair wet.” If that’s not authentic and clever I don’t know what is.
Definitely be on the look out for the review to come in the future and let us know how you think the film will turn out by commenting below.
