Alright, so one of the biggest releases each year is Call of Duty. I know, some of you are getting tired of it, but I’m a die-hard fan of the series, no matter how dumb the story is because who really plays the story? Except us die-hard fans… Anyway, this time around, Call of Duty has a very slight Metal Gear feel to it with a little Halo/Titanfall action. You get some excessively futuristic weapons and abilities like jumping around the map drop-shotting enemy players and taking no fall damage. The traditional HUD is gone, everything is displayed on your gun. Also, PMCs have come into play. Sound familiar? “Private Military Company” (I’m a total die-hard for Metal Gear as well, actually). At the top of the list, we have a new game to run around and kill our best frenemies in so it’s obviously a must buy.
First, we have a new story of the first global terrorist attack by a group called the KVA. The act involved the destruction of multiple Nuclear Reactors in every country at the same time. Of course, that means we’re essentially fighting in Armageddon which is an awesome challenge any gamer is always willing to take. As a result of the massive attack, the Atlas corporation, the most powerful PMC with the best technology, is needed for shelter, water, security, etc… However, their leader has a real problem with the way the government is handling the situation (maybe because his son was KIA in the Marine Corps.) and wants to balance out the power using Democracy (Yay! An awesome, behind the scenes hero…or is it? No spoilers!!!) So our story is pretty realistic, but maybe a little too much for our favorite world critics – the parents. So, we get plenty of believability when we get through the story and it gets a round of applause on this end.
We get a few extra features in Multiplayer. The almighty sweetest is the cancellation of quickscoping sniper rifles! Personally, I think its stupid to have a sniper rifle and be bouncing around with it hip-firing and such. So I’m glad they’re making some changes. They have now made some attachments solely available for certain weapons, not for the class. The exoskeleton suit look cool but overpowered? That’s okay because it’s optional in multiplayer via “Classic Mode”. The perks of the exo-suit allows you to jump all over with no fall damage and you move faster. This is where that Halo drop-shotting stuff comes in, although you get extra points for shooting them out of the air as well.
A lot of complaints about copying Titanfall are going around but why not put something that you’ve seen other people like? Loyalty is great but fun is the point. Extra features are awesome in whatever form. Like maybe zombies…which you supposedly need to have a season pass for, but I’m sure it will come in it’s own DLC which you should be able to grab for the regular price. You can get some serious lag at times and this has been proven on all systems, but we go through this every year with every big multiplayer game. I still lag out in Destiny a lot some days but loving the game makes me put up with it. I think it helps root out people who are impatient or maybe just not good enough to play through lag. Patches do work people!!!
Call of Duty always has some epic music. Its fast-paced, loud, and energetic. That always goes perfectly with the gameplay which is fast-paced, loud, and energetic. This time around is more of an ominous feel. You can really get into it and be ready to play at all times, which is always a fun feeling. If you didn’t feel like a real “gamer” yet because you don’t dream about Call of Duty in your sleep, the music can do that for you. It definitely makes me think “This is Call of Duty and it’s awesome.” Definitely serves its purpose but we all hope that someday they’ll have more modern stuff like they did with Eminem.
I don’t even really believe we should have to speak on the graphics but I’ll humor you. They rock. Every facial structure, every custom option, every trigger, every texture, every building, window, door, and even the hair is better this time around. We are in the future of our childhood, and it’s amazing. With a Next-Gen system and a HD TV, or a 4K Ultra-HD if you’ve got the cash, you can’t go wrong. Waiting it out a little so you have the chance to see what bugs may have been and still are is a great strategy and now is the perfect time to make your decision. This is one of those games you waited for, and we all know the wait was worth it. Pick up your copy ASAP. Call of Duty is a way of life and always worth it.
