Charm City welcomes tourist this week with its premier event:Light City Baltimore.
If you haven’t scrolled through Instagram (hopefully you didn’t getthe update yet!), then you surely missed the first few days kicking off what might be the biggest event in Charm City this year. The best part: there’s plenty of opportunities to interact with the artwork. You can place your hand on a sensor to change the colors of a neon lotus leaf or you can be painted on with animated light strokes in a cargo box.
More than 50 large installations use various technology and lighting mechanisms to bring the first large-scale, international light festival in the United States. Whether you plan to tour the area with your family or spend a romantic evening with bae, there’s plenty of activities and performances suitable for all ages. I suggest grabbing a bike to maximize your time (everything begins to shut off near 11 pm) and to gaze upon every installation. Be prepared to wait in long lines for the more interactive and personalized pieces (we waited an hour and a half for the below picture).
Take a peek at my blog for more of the event. Stop by between now and April 3 at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.
