For most people life is just a repetitive cycle. Wake up, eat, work, sleep, and then do it all over again. Then you have others who some might call obsessed. With what might you ask? Wake up, walk into the garage, crack open the tool box, and find the best way to properly make 300+ horse power with out blowing your motor. That is the mind of a car enthusiast. A deep growl coming from a metallic beast on four wheels that can take you from 0-60 in 2.3 second sending an adrenaline rush through your entire body. Grease on one’s finger tips and oil stains all over one’s clothes. That is the gear head in its natural habitat. A wrench from snap on and a new shipment of parts is all you need to keep it happy. The drug of choice for some of these select individuals is a machine considered to be one of japan’s true mechanical marvels, the Subaru. This fact presents it’s self in it’s extremely large fan base that began in the early 90’s. To find this nostalgia thousands of people from all over the country head to the one place to get their fix on the Subaru bug, “Wicked Big Meet”
As a Subaru enthusiast myself, nothing is better than being around a family of people who share the same passion as your own. The close to two-hour drive from our location to Stafford Motor Speedway is nothing, but enjoyable when your riding with fellow drivers who create a form of self-expression using their rides as a medium. Cruising with close to 30 cars deep; either heavily modified or completely stock is euphoric.
Walking through the gates of the well known race track you don’t know what to except, especially when Subaru them selves announced that they have a few of the most rare commodities to hit the U.S. The unicorn Subaru Impreza WRX STI 22B, The 98 Colin Mcrae WRC Rally car, The JDM S207 WRX STI, and the new prototype Subaru BRZ Yellow series, which unfortunately wasn’t as great as excepted. With vendors ranging from the world renowned Rays Wheels, to the local shops like SubieMods, JNA performance, and One Nine Motor works the cash deals were ripe for the picking. Event goers had a choice of many ways to stay entertained from autocross to raffles and prizes Wicked Big Meet is always an awesome time.
