If you have never seen Black Moon or Pharoahe Monch perform, you’re definitely missing out. Don’t let the age of their music fool you, because with a dope catalogue and the energy they bring to shows, Black Moon transformed The Howard Theatre into the epitome of an old school Hip Hop show. After a few local acts and a performance by Buckshot’s protege Mr. Spills, Black Moon took the stage at such an explosive level, and they never came down from it. Buckshot, 5 ft, and DJ Evil Dee went through several classic songs including “Who Got Da Props”, “How Many MCs”, and “Buck Em Down”. Throughout the show you can find fans reciting the lyrics, waving their hands, and making noise the entire night.
As the show proceeded and Pharoahe Monch took the mic the show got even crazier. He went into performing many of his dope tracks including “Still Standing”, “Simon Says”, and “Bad M.F.”. Now this might sound a little crazy but once Pharoahe started performing, “Still Standing” the homies that were in wheelchairs and in attendance even started wylin out and started standing up. YES, fans in wheelchairs were standing up and rapping the lyrics to the song. I’ve never seen nothing like it but you def know someone’s music is powerful if they can get folks in wheelchairs on their feet.

Once he got out all of the tracks and request the crowd wanted to hear he let his DJ take the stage and cut up a bunch of classic oldies that many Hip-Hop artist have sampled over and over again. Overall this show was nothing short of being on point. It had everything a music lover enjoys; good music, respect and love, and an ongoing performance that did not disappoint. Def be sure to follow more happenings with Black Moon, Pharoahe Monch and the Duck Down crew as they continue to put blazing tracks through the air ways.
