Summer might be coming to a close, but that just means that it’s time to whip out the leather boots and sweaters. We’re ready to say goodbye to the mosquito bites and hello to cooler days and color-changing leaves. Stay busy with these August events.
Citi Open Tennis Classic // August 1-9
Nothing kicks off the heat of summer than dressing in all white and attending one of the tennis’ industry’s biggest tournament. Tickets range from $10 to $50 so you can choose how much a seat is actually worth to you (maybe you can catch some of Andy Murray’s sweat).
Ms. Lauryn Hill // August 7
If you’re in the mood for some dope hip-hop, r&b, and soul you’ll definitely want to catch Lauryn Hill at Pier Six Pavilion in Baltimore, MD. The multi-grammy winning artist is out to share her gifts with the world and it just so happen we are running a ticket giveaway contest to give you and a lucky friend a chance to enjoy the show. Def be sure to enter here.
J.Cole, Big Sean, YG and Jeremih // August 9
Make your way to Jiffy Lube Live because J.Cole’s tour just started a few weeks ago and the reviews are pretty dope. How can you get some of the industry’s greatest all together and travel the US? We’re not sure, but it’s happening. We bet there will be some “A$$” on Forest Hills Drive. Make sure you don’t throw your phone at J.Cole in the middle of his set because he’ll pocket that shit and then just smile back at you (you know what you did).
Red Bull Global RallyCross // August 14-15
The only sounds you’ll hear these two days will be roar, of engines through RFK Stadium. Expect drifting, state-of-the-art cars and superstar drivers Ken Block, Scott Speed, Tanner Foust, Brian Deegan and more.
Mojito March // August 15
Throw freshly squeezed lime juice and handpicked mint leaves and you’ll be ready to kick it with the most summery drink of all time. This day crawl includes six drinks each served at different bars. There’s no better hangover than the one you get from sugary drinks.
DC Restaurant Week // August 17-23
The District begins expanding its food horizons with this annual offer. During this week, spend every lunch and dinner at a participating restaurant. You can figure out where it’s worth to go for a real meal with bae.
Chesapeake Beer and Crab Festival // August 22
What could be more Maryland than Chesapeake crabs and brew? Not everyone can pound through ten crabs, but at this event, the shellfish comes in unlimited amounts. Make sure you grab a spoonful of all-you-can-eat corn-on-the-cob, coleslaw, and potato chips.
Earl Sweatshirt // August 23
This rapper’s album was dark as hell, but he’ll surely bring his entourage with him to light up the night. His lyrics is real and we’ll expect his set to be live. He might have cancelled his set from April, but it’s great to see he came back to put on a show.
Trillectro // August 29
The District finally brings Chance the Rapper into town. His tweets imply him and Kehlani will not only take the stage together, but they’re going to something huge. The lineup is solid including the sounds of RL Grime and Cashmere Cat. Be sure to cop your tickets now, because it’ll be packed to the brim the day of.
