This week, we bring to you a track of pure honesty, self-discovery, and motivation. The Atlanta native,Deante’ Hitchcock releases his new track, Ascension produced by Brandon Phillips Taylor in which he just snaps. He shares thoughts on feeling like you have it all figured out yet still having so much to learn and prove. After going through so much on his music journey he still knows this is just the beginning and there is so much more out there for him to obtain.
The production for the track is ill too considering that it mirrors and reminds me of one of my favorite tracks, Bm J.R., off of Lil Wayne’s early album, Tha Carter. The base and drums definitely give off a deep vibe and you can feel that shit in your soul. Definitely, a good look as Hitchcock just goes about bodying this beat.
The overall theme in this track is pushing and striving to ‘do better’. Hitchcock shares, “Just when I thought I had it all figured out, God laughed at me. I was so confused. Left school with a bunch of debt. Dead broke with a lot to prove. I ain’t plan on paying Sallie Mae back but I done paid a whole bunch of dues. Got me feeling like I got to win cause I ain’t really got much to lose.” Now I know we all can definitely do better, be better, or strive to be better at something new every day. So let that be the lesson and definitely keep pushing on your dreams and be sure to make your dreams goals, as goals are something you go after until you achieve them. In my mind, easily Hitchcock is one of the best rappers from the A in my opinion. If anyone else tells you any different they clearly don’t know good music and their opinion is no longer valid.

Hitchcock is definitely going to blow once he gets his big break. When listening to his music it reminds me of when I use to download J. Cole’s mixtapes (The Come Up Mixtape Vol. 1, etc.) hosted by DJ Onpoint via blogspot before people really caught on to who J. Cole would become/be. So please take heed now and pay attention because Hitchcock is up next out of Atlanta.
After getting a brief introduction to Hitchcock a few years ago via my sister La’Keisha Sutton, who spent some time in ATL, I still can’t get the track ‘Tannae Outro‘ out of my head. I still wish he still had that track up on SoundCloud but hey maybe it’ll reappear on a new album. In the meantime, enjoy this track and also be sure to check out his album, GOOD. BTW, Why We Here, is a banger and the lyrics are second to none. Also be sure to check out his other latest release, Divine below:
