So, Valentine’s Day is coming up fast, and we already have a feeling that you might not have a playlist for your special other on such a special day. Fortunately, we at Stereo Champions got you covered. However, these songs are not your traditional songs from Beyonce, Drake, Jodeci, Dru Hill, or any overly played act that’s always in rotation on V-Day, we’re not about that life. These ten tracks are sensual songs from some dope prospective artists that’ll get you two fired up for “later festivities”, and will get your special other in the right mood (unless he/she is a lame, then we can’t help you out with that potna).

However, Jon Waltz’ song “Video Girl” will have you feeling like you bumping that OVO sound out of your speakers, but this Memphis rapper has a lot more to offer. If you happen to be in a dark room with your boo-thang, no lights on but your laptop screen, play this for them. You’ll thank us later, trust us.
3) Lion Babe – Treat Me Like Fire
Lion Babe is a very dope act with a very dope EP. These guys are so cocky, they even named their EP after themselves (we actually don’t know why their EP is self-titled, we just think they’re that awesome). Anyway, the song off their album “Treat Me Like Fire” is the cut perfect for when you want to get “touchy-feely”. The Lucas Goodman produced instrumental the track is simple, but melodic, with Jillian Hervey’s raw vocals pouring into you and bae’s souls. No exaggeration, all facts.
4) BJ The Chicago Kid – Fly Girl Get Em
Fellas, if there was ever an important day to tell your girl how beautiful she is, Valentines Day would be that day. But don’t just tell her that, that shit is played out bruh. Instead, play the “Fly Girl Get Em” for her. Let BJ set the mood and make her feel confident about her beauty, while you take care of the rest. BJ The Chicago Kid has an incredibly dope catalogue for that special time with your chick, and his old-school style of soul will definitely fit with the vibe you want to give off. “Thru” is a dope song that doesn’t try to be romantic, it just is. The production is smooth, Mizan’s voice is relaxing, and the all out vibe of the song is beautiful. This young New York based artists give you the feeling like you’re listening to a new reincarnation of Sade. If you’re bae doesn’t feel this, she might just be a square.
6) Ari Lennox – Cold Outside
Ladies, we didn’t forget about you. If you’ve just so happen to be the person setting up all this lovey-dovey shit for your man, this song will definitely be the cut that will get both of you “right” for the night. What makes this entry so dope for us is that Ari is from D.C., and she’s definitely been showcasing her talents on a large scale. From the first few lyrics, ladies, you already know where the song is going, all you have to do is follow.
7) Melat x Jansport J – Move Me
If you’re looking for another track with some dope female vocals in it, Texas-based singer Melat did an incredible project with producer Jansport J last year titled Move Me. The duo together brings back an old school 90’s sound with a touch of modern soul. After about 2 plays, you’ll probably be singing either Melat’s singing or the sample in the back.

is a classic for couples on V-Day. But last year, Rashad added a modern twist to an already dope cut. “First Move” is a song exactly what it’s about, making that first move. So when this song comes on people, you’ll know what to do.
9) abhi//dijon – Honest
If you need the perfect music to unwind from a dope date, throw this in rotation. Abhi//dijon’s entire self titled EP is already a great project as a whole, but “Honest” kicks everything off on a smooth note. He’s also another artist in the DMV area, reppin’ Ellicot City,MD. Put this song on, pop a bottle of wine, and let the vibes take control.
10) Mayor Hawthorne – Thin Moon
James Pants version may have been original and oddly interesting, but Mayor Hawthorne’s version of cut is slowed down led by a beautiful piano melody. Add the snares and kicks, and you and your boo will be floatin’ together. That’s how Valentine’s Day is all about.
