With the Summer being upon us I wanted to compile a quick cheatsheet of some of the most anticipated films you should be adding to your must see movie list for the summer. Here you’ll find some action pack and pure comedy films to enjoy. The list includes everything from video games taking over the planet all the way to a sappy sports drama that’ll make a grown man cry. Did I mention there are also two west coast films that’s in this collection as well? That almost never happens so that’s how you know this summer is going to be great in the box office.
1. Ted 2 — Releases June 26, 2015
It’s awesome to finally see the filth mouth teddy bear come back to the big screen to star in Ted 2. If this don’t get you excited I’m not sure what will as the realist teddy is out to find love and adopt a baby teddy in this sequel of the film. This should be a fun film to check out as Seth MacFarlane is sure to put his foot into this one with Mark Wahlberg being the rad best friend of Ted himself. Def add it to your list of movies to check out this summer.
2. Pixels — Releases June 24, 2015
In this fun film you can find aliens intercepting video feeds of classic arcade games and misinterpret them as a declaration of war leaving some badass aliens to attack Earth using games as models. This then leds to the president recruiting a video game guru to try to put an end to this alien gaming attack. Overall I’m most looking forward to the integration of the game classics such as Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, etc.
Now this has to be one of the most highly anticipated films of the year. We’ve been waiting for a good minute for this one as Ice Cube’s son takes on the challenge to play his father in the re-enactment of the legendary west coast group NWA (N*ggas With Attitudes). With all of the rich music N.W.A. has brought to the world including “F*ck The Police,” I’m sure this will be a smash in theaters once released.
When a movie trailer starts using the ultra popular track “I” by Kendrick Lamar you already know it’s going to be awesome. This flick is about a high-school senior name Malcolm and his friends that bonds over ’90s hip-hop culture, school, and playing in their hip-hop band. This will def be a wild adventure considering that the director, Rick Famuyiwa really wants to make a great first impression with this one.
It’s been a good minute since we’ve had a new Jurassic Park but, I’m definitely glad it’s come about. This time around it takes a new route by taking place in Costa Rica at a luxury resort that provides a habitat for an array of genetically engineered dinosaurs. What you can expect as with all of them is that one wild ass dinosaur will break loose and set off a chain reaction that causes other dinosaurs to have humans for lunch meat. This never gets old so if your interested in a super predictable movie this is definitely for you.
6. The Minions — Releases July 10, 2015
Here’s a fun movie to check out if your a big animated film buff. The concept revolves around the Minions going around the world in search of a new master after having already had T. Rex and Napoleon fail at doing so. This leads to them going on a never ending mission to accomplish that goal while having a good time. This is also a good family night movie to check out with the fam if your looking for something to get into over the fourth of july weekend.
7. Terminator: Genisys — Releases July 1, 2015
What better movie to have come out right before July 4th other than the Terminator? Now we all know that it’s always been about setting off as many explosions as you can expect on the historic holiday so def be ready for an action pack film. This time around Schwarzenegger blows the dust off of his guns to take what’s his. This is def a dope film to check out if you love watching things blow up and getting shot up until the dusk clear.
8. Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation — Releases July 31, 2015
Everyone will always find time for a Mission Impossible flick even if we already know exactly what’s going to happen. Just recently at a BBQ my homie detailed exactly what to expect from this movie. “There’s going to be a bunch of sh*t Tom Cruise shots up, he’s going to dive and jump off a building, jump off of a car, roll under a train, and do some other sh*t that’s nearly impossible for anyone to do without dying.” Haha this literally made me laugh considering the fact that this always does happen in like every Mission Impossible created. You’ll definitely want to add this to your summer viewing list considering the plane scene alone is worth seeing Tom Cruise pull off at least once.
9. Southpaw — Releases July 24, 2015
We always love a good boxing film and this year we’ll get just that in this sports drama, Southpaw. You can def expect to find Jake Gyllenhaal go looney in this Rocky meets Fight For Isaiah mashup. It features a hungry boxer that loses everything and getting back into the ring to reclaim the trust of those he loves most. If your into boxing and cinematic dramas this is def a film you’ll want to check out this summer.
10. Fantastic Four — Releases August 7, 2015
Now if your looking for something to do this weekend. This will definitely be the movie for you as the Fantastic Four will feature some of the best damn graphics you’ll ever come across in the a film this summer. This film will feature four young outsiders that acquire amazing abilities after a trip to an alternate universe that changes their physical forms into unforeseen super powers. Not only did they do the unexpected and make Michael B. Jordan, The Human Torch; they also made the Thing look pretty awesome as well.
