After the release of his LP Pink City, Motel in October, it seemed as if 7uca was prepared to present himself to the world. The album caught the attention of many, but for anyone trying to come up in this era, there has to be more to give than just the music itself. And while the momentum was on 7uca’s side, he went silent without anything to hold the interest of his day one and newfound fans. Sure, it’s easy to call it disappointing, but there’s surely no need to be concerned. Apparently, 7uca’s absence has been attributed to him working on new music for 2016. His first release of the year isn’t a lone single as the warm up — it’s a new EP.
The eight-track project Ok, It’s Not Funny Anymore displays 7uca’s range at its best. Playing around with different sounds, 7uca’s versatility meshed with his creative side once again proves he’s a force to be reckoned with. Whether it’s the trunk-rattling “West Virginia Freestyle” or the jazzy “I’m Learning To Accept,” OINFA has a bit of everything in a small offering of what’s to come. And similar to his previous projects, he’s able to piece it all together and create a cohesive and interesting story — that’s the best part. There’s nothing 7uca can’t do, which makes the EP feel almost effortless. OINFA serves well as the first drop from 7uca, but let’s all hope there’s more on the way. We’re all ready for 7uca to make his mark.
