The music industry more than recently is all about surprises.
There’s always a bit of a shock when a new collaboration drops from A-listers in the community.
This year it’s all about coming up as a surprise. From Drake dropping an album overnight to crazy collaborations from artists we didn’t expect, here are our thoughts on these top-rated collaborations of 2015:
Nothing says “fuck you Biebs” more than a hype song. Selena Gomez proves she’s “14 carat doing it up like Midas” with this new song. The deeper vibes come slightly off her last high-hitting track “The Heart Wants What it Wants,” where Selena shows a bit of a darker side than her normal “Come & Get It” spin in circles in a field self.
Oh and girl, you left your main appeal off your music video: A$AP Rocky.
After much speculation that the two became quick friends, the Queen of pop blessed the world with not only a cameo of Hollywood’s most sought out stars, but also the one and only Kendrick.
Kendrick brings a deeper vibe to the song and actually aids the overall mood. The remix of “Bad Blood” sounded better than the 1989 version where Taylor’s voice doesn’t really cut it for a top track. The deeper bass and harder drops, alongside dope lyrics such as, “Remember when you tried to write me off? Remember when you thought I’d take a loss?” Yes, we remember.
Coming back in a hurricane of greatness, Kendrick’s cameo surely increased awareness about To Pimp a Butterfly, for those living under a rock (or too die hard for Taylor).
When Chanel dropped “Reincarnation,” the fashion industry knew this would be a different, more contemporary take on the fashion industry. You bring Pharrell into the picture, there’s not much more you can expect.
The beautiful wardrobe does not do the video justice. As the tinkles of the song begin, the words “cc” can be heard and you know this song is somewhat of a game changer.
With Cara Delevingne breaking into the music industry (and out of fashion), she shows what she has to offer with this song. Her lyrics and demeanor do this song justice.
God, these two together in reality also seem like a dream. At least we can all imagine it in this song.
Poor Madonna couldn’t even stop the Internet from leaking her album early. The rap community questioned why Nicki would rap in Madonna’s latest album, but after seeing the Queen of pop rock the red carpet in skimpy clothing and Diplo by her side, everything makes sense now.
This music video has a cameo of celebrities from Kanye West to Chris Rock (random). Madonna strives to be “young” by incorporating the most important people in the industry, but her music is absolutely nothing compared to “Vogue” or “Like a Virgin.”
Just stop woman, please. Be remembered as a legend rather than a trying-too-hard.
Nothing shows crazy than dropping a song with your ex (who clearly does not f*ck with you). Naya Rivera clearly loves the attention she gets when she mentions her ex Big Sean.
This song might have dropped a bit ago, but it’s just coming into light more recently.
Strange? It’s not like you’ll see Big Sean and recent-ex Ariana Grande performing any time soon.
First and foremost, Jack Ü coming to life was a bit of a shocker for the EDM community. Why bring the two of the biggest names in the electronic dance music industry together?
It’s because when it happened, it brought the house down. The combination of Skrillex and Diplo alongside some of the other big names brought the music industry to a standstill, especially after the Biebs declared his recent retirement.
Naturally when Justin Bieber shows up on a track, there’s no competition; the song will likely become a huge hit. When “Where Are Ü Now” dropped, the song not only drew attention to the EDM artists, but also the forecast that baby Bieber would come back to the music industry (no surprise there).
The upbeat song can be heard in the club, at music festivals, pre-games, and more. You name the place and this song will be there.
